This useful volume of twenty-six essays on the relation of narrative and history does not have anything to do with literature or with narratology. When I agreed to review the book, this was my immediate expectation. The volume exclusively contains articles by historians (many of them unfamiliar to literary scholars) and it is written for historians to use in historical course work. Nevertheless, as we will see, the collection contains much food for thought for narratologists, and it is from this perspective that I will review the essays.
